Conference news: Contemporary thinking on human aspects of business continuity

When a major tragedy or crisis affects a workplace it is no longer enough for organisations to have robust business continuity plans focussing purely on facilities and IT. It is the people, employees, managers and their behaviour, opinions and attitudes that will determine the speed and success of business recovery.
The 'Contemporary thinking on human aspects of business continuity' conference is hosted by Axa-Icas and the London Fire Brigade and takes place on Thursday 29 September 2011 from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
The conference focuses specifically on human aspects of business continuity. By attending the conference you will:
- Learn how three international organisations have understood the business continuity risks to their business and are striving to improve their capability in the human aspects of business continuity.
- Hear how the Cabinet Office considers human risks, when compiling the National Risk Register.
- Understand how Psychological First Aid works to support staff affected by trauma.
- Learn how the London Fire Brigade promote resilience and recovery from traumatic situations.
- Gain an insight into the usefulness of British Standards document on human aspects of business continuity - PD25111.
There will also be a provocative and interesting presentation by 4C Strategoes who will be discussing how to incorporate the human aspects into business continuity exercising.
The conference will end with a presentation sharing the results of a two year project investigating how staff in high risk roles remain resilient.
The event takes place at the London Fire Brigade Training Centre. The cost to attend is £120 (+VAT) which includes refreshments and lunch.
