MEASURE THE EXTENT OF ABSENCE TO MINIMISE ITS IMPACT 
 
Eugene Farrell, chairman of the UK Employee Assistance Professionals Association (EAPA) is quoted in the latest issue of Strategic Risk on managing absence in the workplace. He argues that organisations need to properly assess how absence affects performance. “You can only really tackle a problem when you understand the extent to which it affects your business. And because every business is different you will need to invest some time and resources to investigate how absence is an issue for you and your people,” he says.
