Research confirms EAPs as one of the most popular employee benefits
According to the latest Employee Benefits research (2010), employee assistance programmes continue to be one of the most popular core employee benefits offered to employees. Over two-thirds (69%) of organisations make the confidential counselling service available to their people, with an additional 4% making an EAP available to a selected group of employees.
“Given the recent economic climate it’s reassuring that the number of organisations offering employee assistance services has grown steadily – from 60% of organisations offering it in 2009 to nearly 70% in 2010,” says Eugene Farrell, chairman of the Employee Assistance Professionals Association.
“As we move from recession to recovery we anticipate the number of companies offering EAPs and related counselling services to continue to grow as the potential for third party experts to support employees and organisations manage issues such as stress in the workplace and general health and wellbeing to contribute to increased performance, productivity and engagement,” he says.
