The impact of remote working on employee engagement
A future of remote working and uncertainty is already leading to a looser sense of belonging, according to a string of new studies among UK employers.
Working from home has formally been recognised as being a fundamental part of the long-term response to living with Covid-19 by Government ministers. A survey among chief HR officers this month by HRLocker revealed that around two-thirds planned to encourage their staff to regularly WFH even after restrictions are eased. The main reasons given were the benefits from offering more work/life balance to employees, and the cost-savings to organisations from reduced office space and travel expenses.
The negative impacts on employee engagement from just four months of remote working and furlough arrangements, however, have already started to be seen.
